In 2005 she was sent to New Orleans to serve as temporary housing for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

By the early 2000s her age was starting to show and she was renovated in 2003. "Holiday" would sail the Caribbean for the first decade of her career before being moved to the west coast of the US in the mid 90s. The class was so successful that when Carnival needed a new ship class to compete with Royal Caribbean’s Sovereign-Class they simply scaled up the Holiday-Class in to create the larger but similarly designed Fantasy-Class. She would soon be joined by her 2 sisters, "Jubilee" in 1986 & "Celebration" in 1987. The first ship of the class, "Holiday", was launched in 1983 and joined the Carnival fleet in 1985. Lights for the hallways and the Promenade are located behind the Information Desk near the forward stairwell on deck 3.įollowing the success of Carnival’s first purpose built cruse ship, The Tropicale, The decision was made to construct a new class of ships built from the ground up to cruise for Carnival, the Holiday-Class.
